Guido Monzino, a celebrated Italian explorer, purchased Villa del Balbianello in 1974. He was known for his adventurous spirit, he was the first Italian ascent of Mount Everest. Despite his daring lifestyle, Monzino was also a man of great sentiment and romance, which is evident in how he transformed the villa into a place of extraordinary charm and elegance. The  “Lover’s Path” e.g., is a a beautifully landscaped walkway at the villa that winds through the gardens,  with  stunning views of Lake Como. It is said that Monzino, who never married, designed this path as a tribute to the romantic soul of the villa!!
